rita rusk opens second glasgow studio

October 1997, brought the opening of a new salon in the West End
of Glasgow for the first lady of hairdressing Rita Rusk.

The salon, situated in the cosmopolitan Great Western Road, is quite a contrast in design from Rita's other salon and school. Both are based in Glasgow's city centre.

As with her other ventures, Rita was heavily involved in the design of the new salon. As always, Rita used her own inimitable style to create something unique. "For this salon, I wanted to create a different image. We've used a warm washed plaster feel on one of the walls, and on another have taken the wall back to the brick" says Rita. "I've used lots of antique furniture, including an old Monk's bench that I found while scouring antique shops".
